Blame and metrics average consequence until distance feels like innocence. - Abstraction rewards summaries over cases - Distance is institutionally produced - Contact is slower than closure - Visibility substitutes for responsiveness Attention reintroduces consequence where abstraction would conceal it—much of staying human at scale is this discipline repeated.
