Optimization

Optimization—automation, reorg, tooling—can remove genuine waste. It can also replace participation with workflow, reducing the human to a step. When optimization is the only allowed improvement, contributors stop offering judgment that does not fit the tool; the system gains throughput on what it measures and loses informal checks no dashboard captures.
