Contact: How Reality Returns

The farther consequences move from those who decide, the harder they become to recognize.

Eventually, reality finds another route back. Wear accumulates beneath a rug. A crack returns through paint. A form waits for a signature that would close a person into a prepared answer.

Distance can conceal consequence even from people who care. Systems learn only when uncomfortable evidence reaches those with authority and capacity to act. Care is not the rejection of systems; it is accurate attention within them—keeping the particular case visible when rules and averages would erase it.

In the chapters that follow, reality answers through carpet, plaster, and paper: pressure recorded out of sight, movement that paint cannot stop, and a page left open long enough for judgment to remain possible.
